We ended March with balances as follows:
Education Fund - $1,036,732.81 Revenue exceeded expenses by $6,622.47
Operations Fund - $484,776.92 Expenses exceeded revenue by $253,956.65
Debt Service Fund remains at $791,105.05
Rainy Day Fund remains at $2,003,833.41
The circuit breaker report reflecting actual property tax cap loss to the Operations Fund will be published soon, usually by May 1st. When building the budget in 2024 for 2025, the DLGF provides an estimated figure based on data they have available at the time. Our estimated loss was calculated at $600,000. If the loss comes in higher than expected, we’ll have to scale back appropriation/spending for the year. If the loss comes in lower or on point, no adjustments need to be made other than monitoring revenues as always. Our actual property tax cap loss last year was $525,485.50.

In your packet is the School Insurance Summary Review from USI Insurance and WalkerHughes Insurance Group. Our property & casualty insurance, worker's compensation, cybersecurity, and risk management due for renewal by the 28th of this month. Our current annual premium from USI is $233,828. The proposed premium for a USI renewal is $268,853 with significant increases on deductibles. WalkerHughes Insurance Group who presented during our work session is our recommendation as our insurance vendor. The proposed annual premium is $239,469, with no significant changes in deductible from our current coverage. Many local school districts use WalkerHughes and we have heard nothing but positive feedback on their customer service and followthrough.
On March 24, Assistant Superintendent, Scott Jaworski, shared the Superintendent's curriculum advisory committee's recommended non-consumable supplementary curricular materials list. These are curricular material requests for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. These supplemental curricular materials will provide students and staff with valuable learning tools for their classes. Many of these items are either required by universities for dual credit courses or renewals of contracts of previously adopted curriculum. The Superintendent's advisory committee, made up of teachers, parents, and administrators, reviewed the purpose, quality, and value of each of these resources. It is this committee's recommendation for the listed resources to be approved for purchase for the 2025-2026 school year.
In accordance with Policy 2510, the Superintendent shall implement administrative guidelines for the selection of curricular materials that include effective consultations with an Advisory Committee of parents and professional staff members at all appropriate levels. All currently used curricular materials are included with the scope and sequence documents shared with the board on March 21, 2025. The approval of the scope and sequence documents shall satisfy the school board's oversight of curricular materials for all TCSC students. All scope and sequence documents will be updated and uploaded to the TCSC website upon approval. Concerned parents or patrons may complete the Curricular Materials Reconsideration Form, if they believe any materials are inappropriate, to begin the review process. We are requesting approval of these documents as written.
In your packet is Batch #4 of updated CCHA Board Policy, Forms, and Administrative Guidelines. No action is necessary for the first reading. Second reading and adoption will be during the May 13th monthly meeting.
