The monthly report provides you with a summary of the monthly revenue versus expenditures. For March, our expenditures exceed the revenue by $347,522, giving us a cash balance of $1,151,396 in the Education Fund. The excessive expenditure was due in large part because of the three payrolls in March. The other funds listed in the middle of the page include Debt Service with a cash balance of $1,313,403, and the Operations Fund with a cash balance of $2,031,286. The year-to-date interest at 1st Farmers is $44,147.
The projection sheet indicates that we will end the year with a positive cash balance of $1,288,941. However, there will be changes in the coming months that could have an impact on this outcome – pay changes, for example.
This month also includes information on the transfers during the first quarter. This is a new process with the new budget format issued by the state. When the budget was approved, a resolution was also passed to allow for monthly transfers from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund. The state allows this to take place to offset those funds for utilities and such that once came from the General Fund. We had estimated those costs at about 18%. As we monitor the expenses versus the estimate, we are coming in a little less than estimated - around 16%. We will continue to monitor this part of the budget through the second quarter to determine if adjustments will need to be made.
After advertising bids for Food Service Management, one bid was received from Aramark that was opened as advertised on April 5 at 2:00 PM. Only one other company made an inquiry. It is recommended that we accept the bid from Aramark for Food Service Management at TCSC for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Elementary Textbook Committee is recommending the McGraw Hill Education Reading Series: Wonders. After listening to the presentations from three publishing companies it was decided that McGraw Hill had the best overall materials that worked for all grade levels. It is recommended that the Board approve the adoption of the McGraw Hill Education Reading Series: Wonders beginning with the 2019-2020 school year.
Each of the Tipton schools have reviewed their student athletic handbooks for changes for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. Neither the middle nor the high school are recommending any changes to their respective athletic handbooks for next school year. It is recommended that the Board approve the student Athletic Handbook for 2019-2020 at Tipton Middle School and Tipton High School.
Each of the Tipton schools have reviewed their student handbooks for changes for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. While there are some changes, they are minimal. It is recommended that the Board approve the changes to the student handbooks for 2019-2020.
The proposed handbooks can be found in the Google Folder - Handbooks 2019-2020.
