    1. School Safety

    1.1 Role of SRO

What is the role of the SRO? Who does he report to?

There is a concern about the line of authority with regards to the SRO. The SRO is listed on the Administrative Chart. From the public comments at the last board meeting, some members of the public feel that the SRO should report directly to the board.

The SRO is not an independent contractor. The SRO is employee of the Tipton City Police Department who is assigned as the SRO to the school and is bound by the MOU between the City of Tipton and the TCSC.

The SRO reports directly to the Director of Operations, Mr. Wessel. Mr. Wessel is to submit an evaluative report of the first year.

    1.2 Raptor Visitor Management System

    Raptor Visitor Management System

The schools will be using the Raptor Visitor Management System beginning this school year.  Not only does it screen visitors, but it provides for an alert system for secretaries to send a request for help to designated personnel - inside and outside of the school system.  The link above provides more information on the system.

    1.3 School Safety Academy

    IDOE School Safety Academy

All TCSC Administrators are trained School Safety Specialist. New administrators go through the basic training.  Each specialist is then required to complete two days of Advanced Training to maintain their certification.  The School Safety Academy has two two-day training sessions - one in the fall and the second in the spring.  TCSC  divides this up among administrators so that half attend in the fall and half attend in the spring.  IDOE also sponsors some regional training that can be sued for certification.

    1.4 iSight

    iSight

We are still looking at iSIght - a documentation software system.  This will be requested (and purchased) through the upcoming School Safety Grant.

    1.5 Safe Schools Training Videos

    Safe Schools Videos

We are using a new service to provide the required training for our staff.  Safe Schools has a more comprehensive library than the previous service we used.  It is more expensive, but our insurance agent, Assured Partners have paid one-half of the subscription cost.

    2. ESS Sub Finder

This is substitute finder that some schools are moving to.  It is on the agenda for Tuesday and a representative will be present to provide an overview. It was also discussed with the Personnel Committee.  It does involve substitutes being employed by ESS rather than TCSC. Our subs would not see a negative difference.  They would be paid the same rate.  But they will be provided with training, benefits, and incentives.  The goal is to improve our "fill rate" so that aides are not asked as often to cover a classroom, or students are sent to the library because of a lack of a substitute.

    3. Mowing Options

Scott has been researching the option of doing our mowing in house.  We are still vetting the proposal.   It may be possible to save money with this option. Scott has been talking with Western who does their own mowing. More to come later.

    4. Treasurer Position

We are moving on filling the Treasurer position with Amy Phillips.  We are also looking to reduce the Accounts Payable to a part-time position.

    5. Other Initiatives
    1. Scripts - This is a platform that will streamline the various forms that we use and the process in completing them
    2. EventLink - This program is used by many athletci departments in Indiana, including Tipton's.  It will organize all events - athletics, clubs, other events - into one calendar.
    3. Marketing - Peggy has been working on developing some press releases and developing the Q&A for community members.
